The jury's review
Jury review of Max Voltar
A clean, grid-based visual archive chronicling Tim Van Damme's side projects, physical swag, and 3D icon renders.
Max Voltar's 'The non-work' strips away the usual self-aggrandising case studies of senior product designers in favour of a direct, tactile visual cabinet. Featuring an edge-to-edge modular grid of physical merchandise, 3D icon explorations, and typography experiments, the page communicates breadth and craftsmanship effortlessly. The opening title block balances an understated serif header with concise personal framing. While the technical audit reveals a need for stronger semantic landmarks (no main or header tags), the image-level alt text coverage is nearly complete and performance is snappy with minimal overhead. It is a focused, confident side-project archive that lets physical craft speak for itself.
What the jury loved
- Tactile, high-fidelity presentation of physical goods and digital renders in a disciplined grid.
- Comprehensive image alt text coverage across dozens of portfolio entries.
- Crisp, confident typographic hierarchy in the introductory statement block.
- Extremely fast loading with low script weight and minimal DOM bloat.
